Background

After reading Psychology at Oxford University, Celia gained a place as a graduate on Unilever’s Management Development Scheme, which culminated in working as the Personnel Manager at one of their factory sites. She then went on to be an actress before using all these skills to develop her training company.

Women Do Business, www.womendobusinessdevon.org.uk, is a service for women in Devon who either own their own business or are interested in starting up a business. For the last four years they have been supporting and inspiring women across Devon, regardless of their age or previous business experience, to be successful in achieving their business goals. Although the initiative is due to come to an end shortly, many of the groups within it will be continuing.

Celia, an enthusiastic member of Women Do Business, has built a reputation as an effective sales and communication trainer for businesses through her Exeter-based company, Delaney & Hart, and is now turning her attention to public speaking.

Her speaker training, based around how to promote your business through speaking, was launched in March and she will be hosting her first 3-day Secrets of Speaking Success Retreat at the end of June.

The workshop has been designed as an in-depth Speaker training course to focus on the importance of speaking in business promotion, whether you are addressing a large group of people or simply talking one to one. As part of the programme, everyone attending will write their own signature talk, which should serve them well for months and years to come, and consistently bring in business.

“Having recently launched my speaker training to assist business people make the most of any speaking opportunities they have, it was really rewarding to be asked to speak myself, once again at the Women Do Business Gala Dinner, said Celia, “what a pity this will be their finale.

2011 is turning out to quite a year for Celia herself. As well as launching her public speaker training project, she has broadcast her first webinar, entitled The 7 Deadly Sins of the Stage, and is developing packages for staff development and training through Delaney & Hart to specifically assist Universities survive and thrive in the economically challenging times we all find ourselves in.
